Seashell 03:36
still remember when you used to trust fall into sleep kept the curtains closed but wanted dawn to come on faster dreaming of a lover lying in the lilac aster moonlight on the coastline, what a scene smoking in your garden while the clouds are coming down humming on a song i made that seems to give you purpose somewhere in the night i hear you calling out my verses catching little traces all around i was on your shore now i'm in your dream did you notice me? did you notice me? walking down the highway of a small suburban town song is like a tidal wave and i am going under take me as your harmony and take me as your lover leave those little traces all around i was on your shore now i'm in your dream did you notice me? did you notice me? lying in your lap just like a seashell that you found place me in a way that makes you feel a little better weave my silver hair into the lining of your sweater keep my little traces all around keep my little traces all around keep my little traces all around

here I am Wondering how you can turn it around for the better Here I am Wondering when you’re gonna get up again And get out You don’t have to be small to be safe You don’t have to take on what they say Yeah you don’t have to get carried away With the feeling Here you are practically grown up But too scared to show up Where you wanna be seen Here you are Trying your best And afraid of the best That you’re trying to be You don’t have to be small to be safe You don’t have to take on what they say Yeah you don’t have to get carried away With the feeling I don’t understand why you Always take the sadder route Looking out the window like you’re Making a painting and I know it’s raining but please Just get out this one time for me I love you You gotta hear it From someone you’re close to That’s me We have been In this together since the beginning Cause you’re me You don't have to do what they say You don’t have to put on a brave face You don’t have get carried away With the feeling I don’t understand why you Always take the sadder route Looking out the window like you’re Making a painting and I know it’s raining but please Just get out this one time for me Here I am kicking down doorways And things that you put up When you were in school I can pay homage to plenty But staying twenty forever’s not cool I am going to honour this face I am going to build a new state I am going to carry away The bad feeling I don’t understand why you Always take the sadder route Looking out the window like you’re Making a painting and I know it’s raining but please Just get out this one time for me

January visits me With visions that have died An email from a lover In another life Almost been a decade of That fast recurring dream Meet me at the bus stop In the astral stream But I have found someone who matters And he dances with all my little shadows And he holds me in the way That you could never do Guess it’s true That everyone’s a winner Everyone’s a winner someday I’m walking through a forest and I’m watching honeybees The places they belong to In among the trees You got what you wanted And I got what I need I don’t need your echo anymore But I have found someone who matters And he dances with all my little shadows And he holds me in the way That you could never do Guess it’s true That everyone’s a winner Everyone’s a winner someday I hope that you’re happy now I hope you’re okay Take off that shirt that says “The One That Got Away" Get married on your mountain With a wildflower bouquet I always thought her pretty Cause now I've found someone who matters And he dances with all my little shadows And he holds me in the way That you could never do Guess it's true That everyone's a winner Everyone's a winner someday

Don’t know how I’m supposed to feel staying home and cereal for every meal so I remember better times in photographs and moments from the other side The sunset over city hall Walking round for hours at shopping mall buying roses cause I can Looking at the magazines on paper stands But most of all I miss getting on the train The twenty stops walking down the shady lane i miss holding you I miss loving you I miss everything The dimming of a theatre light kissing on the platform as we say goodnight Piazza in the pouring rain dancing on the driveway out at 2am But most of all I miss getting on the train The twenty stops walking down the shady lane i miss holding you I miss loving you I miss everything looking in the mirror now my face is changing & I’m scared of becoming someone else nothing stays the same apart from you apart from you And most of all I miss getting on that train The twenty stops walking down the shady lane i miss holding you I miss loving you I miss everything

about

So I bought a Sanyo boombox off of eBay about a month in to quarantine, here in the UK. It's a real nostalgia-trip. I decided to share some songs I wrote during this time, as well as some I'd not had the chance to play live yet. The quality of the tape means that they are imperfect and fuzzy and very real, and I love them because of all of that. Hope you do too.
